They seem to grow the fastest if you feed them bloodworm,crickets,earthworms,tadpoles,baby frogs, moths and anything else live that they can swallow or tear apart. My Jags are picky and stopped eating pellets, so now i have to feed them a balanced diet of natural foods.


Its way more expensive than pellets, but they grow faster so it must be better for them.
 
The more protein the faster the growth (with water changes and tanks size etc) Hikari gold is 47% protein thats what i feed mine with the ocational live critter or fish. Pinky mice are ment to be goo to stor fat for females before they lay.

If mine would eat pellets I would be thrilled. It would cost much less for me to feed them.

The last time i tried to feed them pellets they didnt eat for a week. I was concerned they might be stubborn enough to starve to death. So i threw in a few live crickets and WHAM!!! They ate them instantly. They eat like pigs 3-4 times a day if they get what they want.

Thats a same, i wanna try crickets just once but they probly be small for my male to be bothered with. Try market prawns (shrimp that people eat) if u buy them in bulk its cheap of corse defrosting them each serve is a pain. Your tank looks great my male destroyed all my aqua scapeing and will not let me put it back lol.
