My Jag has gotten real agressive since i got rid of the Giant Pacu that was in the tank.
He and the Jack Dempsey have been battling pretty harshly. The JD is smaller, especially when it comes to mouth size, but man, that JD is one FIERCE mother f-er.
My solution was this: Caves. I got 4" PVC pipe fittings and stacked rocks to hide them. I don't know if Dovii are territorial or cave dwellers like the JD, but when he is in the cave he is safe. All he has to do is guard it. He chases the Jag out without much of a problem.
Over the course of about 30 hours before the tank was rearanged, the JD has a few small fin tears, and the Jag's lower lip is pretty chewed up.

Are all those huge fish in one tank??? Good thinking on getting rid of the Wolf fish, it could have been curtains for any and all of your cichlids..... That Jag is one of those Jags that needs a solitary existence, I had one like that once, lots of fun.....

I set up today a nice big cave with rocks, slate, etc. Both big dovii went in there now the Jag is in there...at least it keeps them out of each others line of sight.
Btw, how long is the max that you should go with the lights off so that there is zero light (tank is in garage). 24 hrs? 2-3 days? I think it will chill them out along with the cave and then egg crate.

Had to be the Jag...his ass is in a 20 gal tank right now. The Dovii's are missing scales and part of their tails. He's definitely going into Solitude.
