My Jaguars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've been looking at the pictures in this post and I think your female is a motaguense/managuense mix. Several generations down the genetic path. A little interbreeding at the fish farm perhaps. It's always fascinating how certain species are able to co-mingle and breed. This might have happened in the wild as well. You take great pictures by the way.

Thank you all for your comments :)

Doremon72: that could just be true. I always noticed that some were a little diffirent when i bought the first 6.

But its a beautiful pair either way and the most enjoyable tank at home.

Things are however not going too well this time...
the white ones are getting more and more

Fungal outbreak. When i bred jaguars for yield, back in the day, there was never a plant to be found. Just sand and a flat rock. They bred like rabbits. I had so many that I had to give them to the lfs, which always felt like giving away gold.

You are going with the all natural look. Which i have to say looks excellent on camera. In nature however, the yields aren't that high. Fungus, waterbugs, and all sorts of baddies are out to get the eggs from day one. You might want to consider an external sump with some excellent filtration as well. That way all the machinery you have in-tank is removed from the fungus cycle. The fewer points of infection, the better.

Here is a little video i took of the pair and the new fry
