So my jardini finnally ate two pellets this mourning with out even starving him... it's the first time s/he has not spitten them out since I got her... and s/he's pushing 6.5-7".... my question is now since s/he has eaten them should I only feed him/her pellets for now until they are more readily accepted... or should I try to keep it's diet mixed... I figured for atleast the next few days I would only offer the pellets... (actually quick softening koi stix)

koi sticks are a bit too low on protein, go for cihlids or carniver pellets, and it will be better...

don't worrie, soon she will be eatting anything;)

I had tried tertas cichlid xl... they were a little larger and the jar always spit them out... so looking around petco I saw these warm water koi quick softening stix and I figured I'd just give them a try... she's never ate them b4, but instead of waisting them I continued to feed them to my gourmis. Today with out starving her she took two down and spit out a third... I'm pretty shure there atleast 32% protien but it's mainly soy and wheat not animal protien... and they have a bit of color enhanchers... so I figured I'd givem them to her for a while and then try the cichlid again...

I'm feeding hikari arowana foodsticks and cichlid Bio-gold pellets to my silvers and jar. Now still in the mid of training my G2 red to accept pellets like the rest of the guys.

I do not think anything makes my day more then the first day a fish accepts the food that i have been trying to get them to eat.. i went through it with my arow, my jag and clown knife and it is an awesome feeling and so congradulations to you!!!:D

Thats' why I ask to see what the LFS feeds them so at least I know I can feed it something when I get home.

Mine seems to prefer to eat it soft cause it didn't eat the tetra cichlids when it just hit the water.

Yeah I did ask the lfs store what s/he was eating, and they told me they her just feeding him/her guppie feeders... and I don't wanna feed feeders... I haven't had a problem getting him/her to eat crickets, meal worms or earth worms... but pellets/sticks has been a whole nother story.. Still not eating them regularly but s/he has eatin a few on a couple different occations now... wish s/he's accept them a tad more eagerly...

back off a bit on the meal worms and the crickets now, let him just eat the pellets .. once you get him going on pellets just use the other things as a treat once in awhile ,... thats what i would do now... ;)

i kind of just figured if my jar didnt eat what everyone else was eating... he would eventually give in. i just stopped worrying about my jar so much... he can take care of himself as long as i give him good water and food.
