MY jar has dropeye :(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Jardini can get DE. But it is very rarely seen.

Why? Well why do silvers get DE? Its no different.

Nobody knows...its a mystery...new theories are brought up all the time. None of them are wrong...because there has never been a theory proven to be right.

So before you all jump on someone for introducing a new theory..ask yourself...is there any proof behind yours?

Dropeye is rare in Jardini's. You should sell it to Li, he loves rarity. LOL

It sounds to me like he whacked his head really hard. it's been known to cause eye trauma (DE) that may explain his demeaner. Hopefully, he will snap out of his "funk" and rule the tank once again.

I had one with drop eye. In my case the drop eye was actually living in my carpet. The Jar contracted this rare disease from the carpet when he landed on it.

It was an injury. Personally I don't believe it's a "disease". I believe it's scar tissue that forms behind the eye. My jar was fine for 3 years. Hopped out one day taking a 6 foot plummit while being moved. Mysteriously over the corse of the next few days it "developed drop eye" LOL

Maybe he's depressed.

Hey ive since moved him into a new tank... with more space better lighting etc.. and out of the lounge where he doesnt have to have peoples raucous behaviour bothering him so much :P
He has improved somewhat but still is not what he used to be its been more then a month so I hope he keeps improving .... he used to be a crazy ass fish... would woop anythings ass even ate a pleco lol...! He wouldnt let the cichlids out of their caves just chase em as soon as he saw them, but now... yes easily spooked... timid and he is abit unco like you have to throw in food really near otherwise he has no idea where it is he used to snap it up as soon as it hit the water.... il post more pics tonight. cher

wow...a jar with DE, that doesn't show up too often...

actually the lot of them i have smashed and proven incorrect (the genetic inbred theory was the hardest to crack), most of them cant hold up enough evidence to even be called theorys.

the head trama theory is more like an idea.

although those that have seen a fish bump its head and have drop eye settle within the next few days, it does not make it a theory. in order to make it a theory you would have to speculate (with knowledge of the anatomy of an arowanas eye in mind) what takes place during and or after impact. and none of us know or understand the anatomy of an arowanas eye. So speculation is kinda pointless. Its a good idea though!
