ummm....not sure what kind of P's you have (I'm assuming P. nattereri) but I used to feed JD's to my 6 inch long S. compressus. He ate a 7-8" long JD once. Piranhas make terrible tankmates for anything.

umm u would feed jd's to your fish? why?

I have a 6" JD in a 55 gallon with a pleco. The JD hardly comes out of his rock/cave too, unless it's feeding time. I wish he were more active, but I'm beginning to think it's just the species is shy.

Top that with having piranha in the tank, your JD might not be out at all.

o this was like last year i just made the comment of the guy feeding medium sized jack dempseys to his fish :( those are beautiful fish.

lol guys this thread is like over a year old. i just made the comment bout the guy feeding jack dempseys to his fish.

I find the older the JDs get the more timid and shy they get. They have a rep for being a nasty fish, none of the ones I have are real agressive. I have 5 JDs. I wouldn't have the heart to feed them to anything. My oldest was a 10 year old male and he was very shy. If you want to keep the JD you have, I would put a divider in the tank to keep the JD safe untill you have another home for it. But thats me.
