exxxxactly! Or at least anything that is not common around here! I wish roe were open on my days off.... the only 2 days they arent open is sunday and monday.... Did they buy your FH fry? About how well did they treat you on that transaction? I might end up doing that after a while here! I would love when my family moves, to try to get a very laaarge tank and attempt to get a female motoro and breed motoro rays!
I got kinda ripped on my recent fahaka with a piranha trade in at pet depot... I traded in a Red Belly Piranha in awesome shape / health nice coloration about 7 inches, I originally bought it from I believe rick is his name.. the owner of the pet depot... but when he owned the fish tank in downtown e. moline, originally paid him I believe $30 for it at about 4" or so... Traded it in towards a small fahaka puffer.. I got $20 credit... and had to drop $15 more to get the small fahaka, go back two days later they are selling my old piranha for $70. It is far more healthy then any red belly I have seen in his store for years... He's by far making bank off of me on this deal...
Nice guy... decent store, but wow they sure make their money, when they actually do sell a fish lol.... At some of their prices they are going to lose lots money when their is a storm and all of their equipment turns off and they lose their pricey fish... That happened to their $125 red tail cat they had for about 3 years in a 55 gallon tank... :-/
And they definitely dont change their water out often enough... Their flowerhorn fry tank had a label at one point stating the next water change was in like 2 weeks of the date i was looking... and the previous one was like a month before that!?!
And as you were saying about their ugly red texas' they are overpricing... One of them is even handicapped, with a twisted tail, an expecially ugly fish...

Awdawg, this is great! this is exactly an experiment I want to try & been researching. Flowerhorn x Parrots. I've seen some pics in the internet that shows the grown-up fish and colors are terrific! I will post pics when I get home...can't do it from the office. A few questions please:
1/ what are your water parameters
2/ what size are those fish? who is the male and who is the female?
3/ what size tank do you use for breeding?
4/ aprox how many fry did you get?

Lets see I am at the workplace as well, I'll see what I can answer from here:
1) Cant answer right now, will try when I have the chance / free time
2) The Blood Parrot (momma) is roughly 5-6" and probably 2.5" wide, the papa the jinkang flowerhorn is about 8-9" and probably the same girth as the female.
3) They are in my 125 gallon overstocked community tank... (surprise surprise)
4) I'd say roughly 2/3 of the fry hatched, and I'm sure several have died since, I believe I currnently have 75-100 fry left at about 1/4" or so at around 2 and a half weeks old now.

Roe is also wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over priced as well. I've seen Phil whine about accepting a free 12" male jag (and not give the guy a dime for it) and turn around and sell it for 60.00 the same day. I get fair trade ins from Phil because I've known him and taken good care of him with some fish (africans). I saw your RB at the Depot. Oddly enough I was looking for a puffer for my daughter. Mike told me I had just missed a fahaka. Guess I know who got it.

I know, I loved that fish. It's a shame he was stunted. He had a great personality.
Yeah severely stunted, and also had gill curl like crazy... I felt sorry for it every time I saw it... Yeap I got thee lil fahaka! Took about a month for them to get it in for me.. He's still somewhat timid but I'm assuming thats going to change as he grows up some, he's allready becoming somewhat more open. Puffers are really hard to find around our area... and that is an understatement.. unless you want the dwarfs from petsmart, or the regular spotted or figure 8 brackish puffers... We really dont have a petstore around that's awesome with decent prices, I actually like it when teske's gets some oddball's in as they seem to price them better then any of the competitors.
