MY Juvenile (F) RED TERROR

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Most say double the length for width, 8x for length.
If I was to do a forever home for a pair I would go 8x3x3.
Single female could do a 125 alone, since she can get to 12
Single male since can get to 16in, I would do a min 8x2x2
All the vids I have seen of these fish say male's are hard on females, and need good hides only she can get into. Or if you can keep a harem, one male multi females to spread his aggression out.

From what I have seen they don't, that is what made me not want to do that. The colors they change to is hard to describe, someone may have a pic and can post it for you.

Duanes has posted a few. They can turn kind of a drab dark color without a male that trips their trigger. Not sure if that's universal.

There's no male Festae in the tank with this little girl... she flares up all the time as she enjoys sparing with the Green Terrors and dominating the Firemouths.

Latest update on the girl... she's now about 6" long

She's a beauty. I have a dominant female who is coloring up without a male festae as well. She's in with other female festae who are keeping dark--as much out of submission as anything else I think--a male red Texas and some jewel cichlids.

My male red Texas has taken note of her dominance and pretty colors and has been courting her. He ripped up the last remaining plant (sigh) and brought it to her to play with or nibble on. Lots of dancing going on. She was pretty before but now she's really lighting up.
