No doubt, definitely too young to breed yet. Maturity rate of a Kamfa, which could be up till 3 years. A lot of times male FH in general are deemed sterile because people try and try to breed to females but the fish hasnt reached actual maturity.

I bred this fishes brother at 4.5" @ 10-12 months old. I'm not sure if this one's just not fertile or if he still needs time but I know honda has tried to breed it quite a few times with 0 success. I agree with you guys though he is a great fish already and even if he's not fertile now he may be later on.
 
Yep cams right I tried breeding this guy Atleast a dozen times, and he is almost a year old. I am done trying but that's just because I don't have time or a female. He could be fertile though.
