My Lame "What's in the Bag" Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No worries, we all had to start somewhere. They did have a common wolf there, but the 4 longer ones are all Polypterus spp. (a.k.a. polys or bichirs).

They came from a place in Aurora (near Denver, CO) called "Fish Palace". They have a new owner that actually knows something about fish and have a great distributor and specialize in rarer fish, although they don't get any armatus, goliath or ST's or anything like that (yet).

Is the P-Bass a Tem?
supposed to be...I'll get some better pix once I get it out of the net breeder and it settles in.

Fish Den has some labeled as ocellaris, but they wouldn't sell me any since some were sick even though I told them I had an "empty" quarantine tank and I wouldn't take it back if it died since they were only $7. I will probably call Monday and see if they're ready. I know I said I was cutting myself off, but $7 is nothing for a fish.

nice polys and tems! congrats on a sweet pick up!

Thanks, everyone. I will get some more pics tomorrow of the tem and I also have some more fish coming in tomorrow :naughty:

I wish I could get some ID help with the polys. I guess I will snap some more pix and make a thread in the poly forum.

As far as the bass goes, I probably won't be able to keep it for life. The biggest tank I have right now is a 210 long. I am planning on getting a larger tank not too long from now (300 wide) but that will still be too small for life. My dream tank (10x4x3) won't come for at least a couple of years.

the big one in the first pic looks like a endlicheri, the little ones in the cup looks like buettikoferi, and the other one a palmas... maybe... a big MAYBE

thanks, ben?

you need to look at the second set of pics I posted. they were sold to me as congicus, palmas, polli and retro. The one looks like the polli I had (polli?), the "congicus" looks different than my endli (congicus?), the one looks similar but different than my buetti (palmas?) and the other one looks different than the others (retro?)

I'm not saying you're wrong and that they were labeled correctly, but I hope I got what I was supposed to. they're usually pretty good with getting them correct and they have a very good distributor

I will be picking up some more fish from the airport around 1:00 today :D :D :naughty:
