1 month without eating at the size of 6"? he went 3 days without eating and turned into a paper thin arowana... ill try waiting a few days then offer what i want n see what happens. thanks for the tip

i kno aros in general can go a while without eating but this is a 6" speciman were talking about.

it will go 1 week easy at that size as it would have been staved for one week before shipping

now hes had a good feed on feeders

stave him for a week

then try meal worms they are great a building up small aro and you can gut load them with pellets

the meal worms tasted sooo much like pellets my aro started eating them now

little update on his eating habbits:

this guy is strange. sometimes he takes floating fd plankton and sometimes he jus chews n spits. 1 thing for sure which i didnt wanna do, is he eats guppies like crazy. i did NOT wanna do this as i noticed with tongs is it got very aggressive after it had a taste of feeders but i did not want this guy dieing on me.

30guppies in 1 feeding. how can i get this darn fish to eat something else. should i jus feed it guppies til its bigger, then try starving it for a few weeks til it eats something else? i dont wanna have to feed him live feeders his whole life.

that is, exactly Ethnics, what you will end up doing and should do..it is not sick, it is telling you what it likes..it is a baby you will have to cope with that..when it is a teen, your time to show who is boss will come:) :)

Superworms and CRICKETS :) Like stated above :) I just bought some Mysis my Black doesn't like it.. But mine is 14" now and I am finally getting him/her to eat 1" market shrimp.. I feed crickets and Superworms..

Didn't want mine eatin feeders either.. But for different reasons than yours as my Sp. is the most Docile in my opinion and from what I've read and heard from you guys and TV :)

But do to that fact :) MY Pbass are trained as of the last couple months of weening off feeders :D

Live food is not always feeders :) Bugs my friend :)

i know 1 thing as well. i saw a roach running across the lid of my tank so i opened the lid and blew the roach into the tank and BAM, my lei ate it lol. maybe i should try buggs, is it okay to buy like 200 krickets and freeze them, then feed as necessary as a staple? or do i need to try n mix it up. i jus need him big enough

it is okay to freeze crickets...take their hind legs away, if they're big crickets..

i read somewhere if you freeze the krickets and shake them around in a plastic bin, all the legs fall off lol. then you can just feed the kricket bodies. i wanna try this but i also wanna try small cut market shrimp.

1st bold- you dont know that. besides, small fish like that only needs to fast for one or two days.

2nd bold - youve tried them yourself? :D

yah seriously. i am not risking anything to lose my leichardti... its not a basic fish in my area so i dont wanna risk anything. i'd rather have a mean angry gupppy eater then a dead fish i was trying to get onto different foods.
