My lep lost an eye last night.

If possible you should separate from its tankmates for a while so it doesn't get picked on or stressed as it heals

Thanks everyone. Yea i added salt that day. I took the adonis pleco out of the tank. So its in a 60gal with 4" ornate and a 5" hijutia gar. Both pay no attention to the lep. But it hasnt eaten since it lost its eye. Its getting really skinny. I check my water every week. Amonnia 0 No2 0 No3 20. So well see. The eye is healing but i cant get it too eat.

All my poly's eat by smell- not by site. I think you just need smellier foods!

It will be fine, but feeding will be a challenge...I have a 11" Oscar that only has one eye - you just have learn to feed him from his good side!

For smelly food, try a drop of concentrated garlic in food. It tends to work. Also, I use Melafix as a natural infection preventative. I have a Rainbow with only one eye and is doing well. Good luck!

Thanks. Ill try the galic trick. Im worried cuz i wanted to put him in my big tank with all the other bichirs his size. Competition for food in that tank can get a little agressive at times. So well see if it can cut it once its eating again.
