they want 100 dollars for some ugly looking 6 inch trimac that someone brought in.they wont special order a festae for me. they don't give store credit for your fish no matter how nice it is but they take it for free .they got 1 inch datnoids for almost 50 bucks. they told me my 6 inch bright red rose queen isn't worth much. they have 5 inch flowerhorns for 400 dollars when I could literally get the same ones for 88 dollars at this other fish store in the city. today this guy gave them a nice 6 inch dovii the worker took it walked by me and said "I cant believe I just took this" im not gonna blow em out of the water by sayin the name cuz im sure some people like them but they honestly suck. I only go ther if im out somewere near them just so I could see what they have. theyr basically price gaugers. good thing I know a lil something about fish cuz if I didn't they would get me everytime. its crazy cuz people always post threads of ther new fish they bought wer they live and the price is always like 1/3rd of what they would charge here. its crazyyyy
 
Ya a lot of places can be crazy, but its supply and demand. My friend has a lfs and he prices some fish ridiculously just so ignorant people wont even try to buy them(mostly fish that will get huge and require special care)
 
My lfs isn't too high on their fish, but they don't give a whole lot in credit and I'm lucky if they have 2 cichlids other than what I could find at a place like Petsmart. I literally have to drive over an hour to look at decent fish. The other day I took a 3 inch Firemouth and 6-7 inch Mayan in and they only gave me 6.50. Better than nothing I guess, but whatever.
 
One of my lfs overprices everything. For example, little juvie oscars (around 3") are $15, datnoids (5") $110, motoro stingrays (5" disc length) $250, black aros (6") $200, 1" dovii fry $12. 6" l128 plecos $100.

yeah I cud almost guarantee my place is worse tho lol. u cant get a 2-4 inch fish for less than 20. I bought my Cuban a few months back when it was the size of a fingernail for 15 and change and I felt giddy like I saved lmao
 
One near me is crazy pricey 6" jardini £200 for example , they rarely get decent sized fish and when they do its usually a rescue fish they got for free then mark up at daft prices , even regulars don't get hooked up much I don't go in much just if I'm passing on the off chance :banghead::thumbdown::thumbdown:
