My LFS Story

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm still annoyed at Denizens for not having boatloads of nice looking plants for so long. I hope they pick back up on carrying plants. Not to mention the game-store guy creeps me out a bit.

Bobby's was still around a few months ago. It's kinda far away from me, so I haven't been over that way recently.

Also: Yay for CSU grads! (Including me, as of 3 weeks ago!)

I have no idea on the plants. I know they were pretty low on fish stock and theyve increased it quite a bit, but its still a lot lower than when denizens was in full swing.

yeah, i hate going in that area, lol.

congrats on your graduation!

Two really good sources when it comes to Cichlids that I used (other than MFK) is Mike from Mike's KF and the web-site http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles

Mike is an amazing resource when it comes to SA/CA cichlids. He's familiar with a few Africans, but his specialty is SA/CA.

I just got a wild caught Geo. Surinamesis (I think that's how it's spelled) from him Yesterday.

Mike's Killer Fish is definitaley the best place to go- not just for cichlids, but other monsters too.

pwmin- I'll be up in FC in a couple weeks, my son has a Ice hockey tournament up there, What are some good LFS to visit?

Was there today and picked up a Vieja Breidohri, temped to buy more though, had some P-bass and a nice pair of Red tiger motas.

yeah, those red tigers were nice. had to walk away quickly haha.

there arent any really good LFS up in FoCo...just okay. there is D&G Pets, which has some decent ones time to time. they have a black lancer cat right now. I would check out the place that is where denizens of the deep used to be. Like i said before, they have some unnamed cichlids that might turn out to be something decent. You may be able to ID them, but I'm not very good at that yet. There is also Bobby's, which i haven't been to for a few years and Front Range Aquatics. They just had salt in there last time I was in, but said they were going to start carrying fresh livestock, but IDK if they have any or not or what their selection would be. Other than that, there aren't any decent ones until you hit Greeley or Boulder, maybe Cheyenne.

went back today to ask about bringing some fish in for credit and they had TSN at 2" :) and some more 2" silver aro's

these are terrible cell phone pics, but can anyone ID these fish? the first one had red spots on its fins and the second had sorta red fins w/ blue spots and some blue spots on its operculum. sorry for the TSN pic in there
