Not sure if this was the best place to post this, but...

Alot of fish require subdued lighting. Many keepers either don't turn the lights on at all, use ambient room lighting, or turn on only half the tank lights to create the effect. Instead, I use fiberglass screen. Just like the stuff you use on windows. You can buy it an any hardware store by the foot for cheap. Take it home, cut into strips to place under your lighting and voila! Just layer strips on top of one until you get the amount of light/dark that you want. You can even create different light and dark spots in a tank using this method, makes some cool effects!

If I wasnt moving my aro soon I would have used this method.
