my li'l dat survivor!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What type of aro? I think it's a bit rash to start calling people stupid before all the facts are known.
Asian gold will have slowed down a lot at 18in and it's proly 3 years old already, it would max out at about 20 to 22, giving your Dat chance to catch up.
This is my logic while having smaller fish in with an Aro.
Mine could hurt my NTT if it wanted to but it couldn't eat it. The Aro is 16 to 17 in and 2 years old. It won't grow much more. Whereas my Dat has plenty of growth left.
If you own a Jar or a Silver then you need to be careful. A Jar will proly go for it again and a silver its going to get bigger, they slow down at about 2 foot!! so it could potentially grow big enough and quick enough to swallow your Dat!!

thanks all for the advice..nice too see some good advice given and not all about knocking people down...

the aro is a silver and will try and keep him well fed from now on and see how it goes...if he's still trouble then i will try and move him on..:( but i like my dat's more.

I would advice you to isolate your tiger from your ARO.

It's not a good idea to risk an expensive fish getting eaten by a Silver ARO :D
Just put back the tiger with the ARO when it grows a little bigger.

But hey, those are your fish, so it's still your call, these are only friendly advices from your concerned fellow MFKers :D

my li'l dat is doing good it is all healed up without any probelms..and i'am keeping the aro well fed too..here's a few pic's from today..still one of my fav dat's even 3bar IT..

Yeah not the greatest idea. If your planning on keeping them together make sure you give that dat a place to go and hide if the aro trys to eat him again. That would be such a waste it that happenned plus the dat may kill your aro if it gets stuck in the aros throat or who knows it my pop some organs in the aro if it makes it down that far. Dats do pack them nice sharp spikes on their backs. So either keep that aro fed really well or give that dat a hiding spot or do both. Glad to hear hes healing up by the way.

i agree entirely.....give him a spot to hide....and the aro must need more food.

each aro is different

i had 7 x 16 inch aros with 4 inch NGT and 4 inch NTT with no problems

feed the aro more that must have been the problem

also none of my aros had drop eye always looking up for food if your silver had drop eye it may have always been looking at the little tiger and thought one day he would eat it
