LOL. those are really nice gars. I did the same thing (fill the grow out with feeders) but they dont grow any faster... just get fatter... also it will not help if you are trying or in future want to switch them to packaged food. good luck.

Yeah good luck with getting them off feeders, which you should do if you can,but again, nice gars.
Steve

I fed all my gars heavily with feeders until they were about 10", when I started introducing other foods, including pellets. Now all of my gars willingly accept pellets as their main food source, with market shrimp, silversides/tilapia, freeze dried krill, and live feeders thrown in for variety.

Hello,

the tank is kinda small, just 80gallons or so.
The 5 gars are 4-5inch.
I hope they´ll grow fine, even if the tank is un-heated.
Before I had them in a bigger tank with longear-sunfishes but the beasty gars started to attack them :irked:
The sunfish were impossible to eat for gars but they allways tried.

holy crap thats a fat 4-5 incher. my 10 inch spotted gar was pretty skinny even thought i would feed him like 4 feeders a day.

These guys got an endless supply!
That sure is a way to make sure your fish don't grow hungry!

Hey Guys

no he has no injury, he was just swimming a bit "different".

about the feeding I experienced with my stingrays and others that if u "massiv feed" them with the food they eat they get more hungry then and easier on other food.

It´s the same on me :D when I ate allot I´m more often hungry.
If I eat only rarely my stomach gets smaller and I´m less hungry.
