This is probably the same as keeping a guppy in 10G using the same water:fish size ratio. A lot of water for a RTC would be an entire river.

also true about the river being alot of water....and of course we cant keep a river in our backyards....but it would be a nice dream to own a large river filled with the many large fishes you heart desires....=)

MARKET SHRIMP COATED WITH PAPRIKA SEEMS TO BE BEST FOR ADDING COLOR TO RTC'S However...as a general rule really strong color dosn't start to develope until they hit about a foot and a half or so. I've also noted that the colors are generally muted on fish living in close proximity to other cats of the same type.

well ill just make my indoor pond a 10'x8'x6'

Are you planning to put a viewing window in the side of the pond?? If not, it's going to be a pain looking into a pond that is six feet tall!!!

Unless your name is Robert Waldow. Some of it is most likely being built underground.

There would be a s@#t load of water pressure in a 6' deep body of water. Personally I am only going 42" tall on my 15' x 10' x 3.5' pond/aquarium. I will have one viewing panel towards the top that will be 60" x 24". Going to build a step ladder on the right front where I can step up to feed and get a better viewing angle. I will also have some thin glass panes on top where I can look down on my fish and light can shine through for side photos.

can anyone help me please. my hybrid is not eating since i got him and tht was like 3 1/2 days ago.. my other cats that i got on the same day goes crazy for the food except for the hybrid which just lays there motionless... what should i do??? PLEASE help i dont want to lose my favorite cat

Personally I think you added too many fish at one time and added too many of the wrong kinds. I think you will have territorial problems in that tank and that will lead to stressed out fish in which will lead to unhealthy fish.......aka.....Stop eating. The RTC's will not tolerate each other and may not get along with the hybrid. The TSN...... He wont bother anyone except when he flips out and gets everyone else startled. What size is the tank they are in now ???

I'll say it again because I dont think anyone ever listens...........

Unless you have a HUGE tank RTC's are best kept alone. meaning ALONE as in only themselves. I say this for many reasons but the #1 reason is they dont really do well with others. I have kept many RTC's and the ones I have kept alone ALWAYS do much better, and have MUCH better personalitys to boot !!!!

Not many people can devote a large tank to a single 2" RTC then a huge pond to a single fish but thats how they do the best in captivity. I devoted a 150 to a single 2" RTC and he has become almost like a pet dog already. He eats out of my hand every day and everytime I'm in the room he's at the surface begging for food. Thats what RTC's are all about but most people never see that side of them because they are kept with too many other fish. I also have a few TSN x RTC's and my favorite one is also kept alone. He too acts differently from the rest and is a pleasure to own. I just lost a large TSN and gave two little guys away, them I will not be replacing.

This is all just my opinion of course, as I'm sure there are many happy cat owners with crowded tanks, but get those fish separated and you will see what owning a RTC is all about and why some people devote so much time and money to keeping them.

Again...... JMO
