That is good progress, keep doing that and you'll raise a tractable monitor. For now I would suggest not lifting it out, so if it tries to run away you can just let it, and not have to terrify it by chasing it down.
I think that's what I'm going to stick to for now although I didn't chase it down & get chomped on rather it simply chose to bite me; the only change was that I removed it from its enclosure. Hopefully it is in a better mood next time!
You seem to have all the animals that I like but wouldn't get myself
