Looks like the barb is ready to shed before a new one has grown, like he jammed it into something and broke it loose. Don't think it will be anything to worry about.

It’s normal. Seems to be shedding. If it turns discolored, or it starts to grow weird, let us know. You can take that sucker out of the tank and show all your mates ?

Interesting how the sheath is missing from the barb.

I had something similar to this happen on one of my females just recently. She shed the barb and still hasn’t really shown any real signs of stress and continued to eat, so I haven’t really worried too much.

Yah when I first saw it on my ray I was a little worry but I saw him eat and he was very active.so I was like me let me post and see what y guys think....good thing u guys told me not to worry cux i was just gonna set up one of my tank just for him. Yall saved me the work after a long day at work and kids
