My oldest son got me an early Christmas present about six weeks ago. Two Red/Hi Fin Wolf fish. They were relatively small when they arrived...about 2.5 and 3.0 inches respectively. I set them up in two seperate tanks, since I've read info back and forth on the conspecific aggression.

Since then, they've both grown at least an inch. The smaller one ended up in the top aquarium, and I'm glad he did. He's a BEAST! I feed them a small rosy feeder apiece each night. The one on top knows when chow is coming...as soon as I open the little lid on the tank, he's started up to the top, watching the surface for his dinner. Last night, he jumped well over his body length OUT of the water and bit my thumb through the net as I was shifting the little feeder around to drop it in the tank.

I've kept piranha off and on for years...but frankly this little guy is far more fun. He's a lot more active than I've read about most wolf-fish, and not the least bit frightened by people coming up to the tank.

I got a go-pro waterproof camera for Christmas, and the first thing I did was take a closeup of him in the tank. I'll post it here when I get the chance.

Just gotta say, thanks MFK! Coming here was what led my son to decide to get these for me...and I've thoroughly enjoyed them so far!

that sounds awsome, ive fancied one for ages... pics please?

I finally saw one of these guys for sale in a lfs not too far from me. If I had ANY room left for an aggressive fish, I would have grabbed him.

Congrats on your awesome fish! Can't wait for pics.

red wolves and black wolves are the most fun and active wolves out there! Post pics!

Working on the pics. Got a couple of short videos I've done with a gopro camera...looking to get them posted on YT, and then link them here. Introduced a pleco into each of the wolve's tanks...will see how that works out.
