Wow didnt know they can take such temperatures. There isnt any winter in India i wonder why they they within stand such temperatures. Maybe its very cold in the mountains?

Himalayan mountains have snow. There is winter in India...10-15deg ave and 0 deg in the north. Definitely way colder than San Diego.

Your Jerdoni's look way bigger then mine have gotten. Must be the outdoor pond. You keep a net over your pond to keep out the Herons?

No net over the pond but I do have plastic fencing around the edge.

"Masheer is the common name used for the genera Tor, Neolissochilus, and Naziritor in the family Cyprinidae" quoted from wikipedia.

What do you want to know about masheers?

size, locale, temperment, temp, safe with plants, min tank size etc... I'm planning an asian river tank in a 75 to be up and running by late December. I'm looking for an oddball species i could throw in. My current list is 6-12 barilius species around 2.5 inches, one other schooling species, 1-3 red tail black sharks, some rather small botia for cleanup, and 2-3 species of hillstream loaches, most likely chinese butterfly and black lizard loach. I currently have 6 barilius in a 30. I was just hoping of an unusual mid water species to top it off.

p.s sorry about kinda derailing the thread

Asian river tank would be a suitable theme for masheers.

Masheers can grow big ( >12" ).
Can be found from himalaya to china ( depending on which species you intend to get ).
Temperement.. cant advise much on this part and definately not plant safe.
They strip my big leaf nana to stalks in 2 days.
Small juvs can be house in your tank to grow them up, when they grow bigger u'll need a big tank or better still a pond.

google, try it. its great
