I believe John c bred his marbles multiple times in a pond. He can confirm that. One of the MI guys keeps his in a pond as well I believe but I don't know if they are breeding for him. It seems there are lots of factors that go into breeding; room, water, tank mates, maturity, ratio m/f etc. Some people just seem to get lucky as well. Alan I think you have bred marbles multiple times haven't you? Maybe not as much as you'd like but I think you're holding back a little yourself. Oh and I believe youre due for a marble pic update as well
Best of luck venom. That future tank/pond sounds amazing. Hope it works out for you.
well..i have 4 marbles altogether..and that does close out my collection of MM's..
now i need 1 male pearl and 3 BD females and 2 BD males..
then i will get maybe 4 other odds and ends....a falk or jag..maybe a tiger or two....i like Trev's leo/hen's so i know i will get one of his....
Thanks a lot DB...
Hey, my blackies and marbles mix very wellYou're going to need several paradises......
Blackies and Marbles don't mix.
Hey, my blackies and marbles mix very wellAlthough I have wondered if the blacks could be the reason that the marble pair haven't bred. If my male doesn't get it going soon the male blackie is liable to get the cherry first..........
Nice pickups Venom!
Think they're still gonna mix well when the blackies got them by a foot????
Sure they mix fine if similar in size, and it's enjoyable while it lasts, but eventually I bet you do what's best for the rays and split them up. And I bet when you do the pups follow....
It seems to me Marbles growth rates slow to a crawl somewhere between 7 and 12 inches. Irronically my blackies have seemed to take off growing at these sizes.
For the record I actually enjoy being proven wrong. So I hope I am, but in my case it just doesn't seem like a good idea long term.
I seem to have had the best luck keeping rays in species tanks. My blackies just got moved out of the Falk tank a few days ago and both species have been eating much more after seperation. And both are much more active. Maybe they were just overcrowded but it was obvious they are happier in different tanks. The overactive Falks just seemed to irritate the blackies.
