Interesting. I am thinking my mayan is male but not sure. How big must they be to sex them? This one has a hint of red on its fins edges and throat, not sure if both sexes have this.

my mayan is also a mean SOB. not only did he not want other fish in his tank. he would try to bite me when i went to clean it. mines also gotten to be about 11-12", so i think they get bigger than the 9" u mentioned in the first post.
