My Mayan(s)

I'll try to do the video tomorrow morning before going to work, got a little distracted with my friday night crew, lol. by the time i got home, it was too dark for a good video, so tomorrow i'll set up some ambient light to make a good video!
 
mayans are awsum i had to part wid my coz he was over aggressive so gave him to my frnd now he is doing fine in a 220 better than my 125...he had nice blue colour with reddish tan i miss him though
 
Finally followed through and put my new female mayan in a critter cage in my 120 with my male mayan... Man is she RED! Probably one of the reddest mayans I have ever seen! Pics and vids as soon ad I can

My female escaped from her box before I intended to release her! Luckily she's adapting well. My male mayan, as expected, has become somewhat more territorial, but no attempt by either fish to eat any of there tankmates has been made. here's a video I took last night:

let me know what you think. they've been together overnight and seem to be more mellow today. So far so good!
 
I've noticed that mayans seem to have a lot of variation depending on Florida collecting spots... I'm going to look into it more, since I've seen some really blue mayans and some really red mayans like my girl here. Maybe selectively breed the offspring in the future for certain traits? Hmmm, a red mayan with no stripes or a blue mayan with no red... Oh the possibilities, Lol.

It looks like they might breed in the next few days! So far it's looking good, no excessive aggression and i see tubes! I'll be creating a new thread with the progress from now on. thanks for keeping up!
