They main labor of excavation looks like it is already done. Line it and add water, almost. I would reuse the rocks right where they are. As long as they are pretty smooth and round that they won't puncture the liner, i would def. use them. I would do a little reseach on farm ponds. You might find some ideas on fixing the clay bootom that already exsists.

i would do this is i wanted to use clay but i don't so some kind of liner is going to be used. i don't want the dirt to give our again they thought the clay would be good to but it wasn't, and i don't want to have to deal with that again when it hits high temps and things like what made the pond go dry before this is a man made pond, they just didn't use a liner. why i don't know
