my messy oscars help !

Lol. Waste and excess food come hand and hand with large oscars. I have two large O's in a 100G and do 50% w/cs weekly. I would do 25% w/cs every 2 days, but I'm using gravel that hides the waste pretty good..............

That's why I dont like sand with messy fish, as the crap sits on top of it. You could get some nocturnal scavengers like Synodontis, Pimelodus, Raphaels etc to get rid of the food. The crap you will have to siphon or net off yourself.
 
ive had oscars for almost a year now and its one thing that ive learned is oscar are just messy no stoping it
things you can do to help
once a week you can skip a feeding
normally i only feed once a day
used to be twice but created to much of a mess
and feeding once a day keeps nitrates down
only feed what they will eat in 2mins
then net the rest
and if th oscars are throwing food out there gills like chunks of food then your over feeding
 
The food youre using is messy. Breaks apart easily. Go to the supermarket and get them a bag of frozen shrimp or squid or scallops. Dont go broke on this get them the cheep stuff. 35-45 count for five bucks and it has to be raw. With Shrimp you can cut them in half. It will last a long time. And dont feed them every day. Those guys are full grown and they store fat. Try feeding them three times a week till you get that tank back on track. Good luck Monsta.
