Went to the lfs just to grab another peacock bass. Another $260 (I got carried away as usual) and I came home with this oscar. He was a trade in and apparantly housed in a 30 gallon, hence the HITH. I got him for $30, I felt so bad I didn't care about the price. He's a gentle giant, I am guessing somewhere between 11-14" and very thick. You can also see his jaw looks to be damaged. He doesn't beg like most oscars and feeds very slowly. My RTC doesn't bother him at all, they just do their own thing. He's in my 120 gallon. When the RTC moves he will have the 120 to himself and I will probably add some wood and rocks, and possibly another O. He makes my 120 look small!

Thanks for looking! Any commentions and suggestions are always appreciated.

That's a big Oscar! Two weeks and the RTC will have grown its mouth out enough to enjoy him. But better a feeder than suffering in a small tank somewhere. Good save.

You did a good thing.:thumbsup:Oscars are probably the most abused fish kept.Looks like now he'll be livin' the life.

I think he looks fantastic! Nice coloring.

Good job rescuing this one!

Thank you for saving this Oscar! I'm sure he appreciates it...we need more people like you in this hobby and less people keeping Oscars in 30 gallons, that's for sure!

By the way, it is very sad to see the HITH and the jaw deformation but his coloring is absolutely fabulous! Kept in the right conditions he will be a REAL stunner!

Thanks. As for the RTC, his growth has slown dramatically. I am not sure why as I am keeping up on water changes. He has also thrown up his food twice now in the last two months. It smells awful when it happens and I have to do huge waterchanges and re-do the carbon in the tank. I will keep a close eye on them, but at this point the RTC can't even come close to getting him.

good lookin oscar

i hate to see abused fish in my lfs that people kept in to small of tanks we deffinantly need more people like you like AquaApprentice stated
