The matamatas are available at a good number of shops in southern CA, from sellers on kingsnake.com and, occassionally, sellers on this site. Snappers (common and gator) are illegal in CA.

Just for you...here's my "little" pair hatin' life cuz I put them in this bin while their tank is being cleaned. The larger one on the left (female) is pushin 30lbs. They're fed on shiners and 10-12" shad I catch at the reservoir dam.

Hahaha, I member first time I came to visit that female almost took your face off... Man she was grumpy!! Awesome though, you ever feed them that female bass?

I'm probably wrong, but that looks a lot like a alligator snapper instead of a common....hmmm
