My monster planted tank (maybe) build

Got this tank for real cheap :headbang2

Im thinking Amazon theme, but could also do a simple seahorse tank or grouper tank or something so I need you guys to help me make up my mind.

The tank is a 225g 60" x 30" x 30"

This is what I have so far >

- CO2 diffusers

- Life Guard Fluidized Sand Filter for 300g system.

- 1190 GPH Little Giant external pump

- 9w UV sterilizer

- 48" 4x 54w T5HO Current Nova Extreme Light Fixture (temporarily on my 240g reef/shark tank)

I'd say go salt with it. The lighting needed to make that tank look good will be expensive.
 
I already have the 48" light in the picture of my reef tank up at the top :), the reef has a different light now (4x 250w MH + 4x 65w PC)
 
With out getting all technical about lumen output and stuff. Basically you wil need around 500 watts of light over this tank to grow plants. And more than likely more wattage to use that co2 that you have planned. Now just to maintain plants and not grow them you might get away with 300 watts of good light. I say get you a few freshwater barracudas and a school of hujeta's and forget the plants with that size tank. Unless you want to spend some big bucks.

You cannot have such general statements. Wattage can only be used if you state a type of lighting. Each light type can output very different lighting.
 
well, I also have an extra pendant with 2x 250w MH I could use :cool: that should be enough no?

its one of these but with 2 lumenarc style reflectors.
