My Moorii Swims Vertical

The tank mates are in my sig. I am trying to get a few more fish and will try to include some Tropheus. I am just glad I found an obscure ma and pa store that carries them. I am going to get rid of some of my duplicate fish that I just bought to reduce tank hostility--and it worked well. But I currently have 3 male and one female kenyi. Not a good mix. I should want to reverse that ratio.

You'd think that there would be a better selection of fish in a large area like So Cal, but the chains are king around here and they only carry the same fish. Like I said, I finally found a fish store that said they intentionally try to get the less common fish than what the chains carry.

Yes. A Chinese (albino). A good little worker.

When I first got into cichlids I wanted my whole tank Malawi, but then I saw this daffodil I just had to have, so that's how I justified the moorii. I won't mix them up too much, but it's nice to try to pair off as much as possible. Not so much gender as close species. Someone to talk to--he he.

I'm uploading a pic of the Tropheus Moorii in my profile. His colors get brighter when he's eating and he's not eating now.

OK--I was trying to take your advise on the Tropheus--so never mind on that one.

The algae eaters are aggressive the larger they get. Mine is a good fish. He is about 6" long and tries to attack my other fish as much as they attack each other and him. He pretty much keeps to himself unless someone wants to get into his territory, and then he chases them a little. He's not as good of a swimmer so they just swim away and he leaves them alone. What's really cool, is that he will occasionally get into a tail chase stand off with one of the alpha males--just like cichlids do with each other.

The best thing about him is he breaks up fights. If there is a tail chasing going one, he jumps in the middle. It's pretty funny.
