If you do not know the exact type, how will you know when it is mature?

You are right though, I don't know when it will be mature. But I have to say, alot of our knowledge in the Hobby regarding these species comes from "Word of Mouth." Very little "Printed" information is out there regarding rays, thats why I'm here. This place is great for information like that!

How do you know when any female ray is mature?
Size & age are governing factors but there is no sure-fire way to determine when a female is mature.

Nice ray by the way, don't think that it is a mantilla. Did it come out of Peru? It may be a orbignyi morph.

great looking ray whatever she is. I would love a ray that looks that nice, thats not a very common pattern on a ray

Thanks Darthlungfish, it was a pleasure doing busness with you. As for the ray, I asked and recieved many different names for the ray. I asked all the big ray guys on the board and no one gave me a definate answer. I bought it as a mosaic and stuck with it. I was a sharp piece so i picked it up.

i am pretty sure that its a mantilla there are many different morphs of the mantilla so if you got a male let me know i got a female mantilla on the way...... not much info on this species but its beleived to be mature around 10-12" and max out around 16"
