My Nano 2 (Picture Thread)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I took out the heater today because the tank was getting too hot (82ºF), which is unhealthy for moss. Now its around 70ºF, which should be perfect for the moss and the new/only inhabitants I ordered, Golden Crystal Shrimp. I'm going to try to breed them in there. The Glosso has settled in a little and is starting to send off a few runners. Also, I've been getting Ammonia spikes from the substrate; ADA Aquasoil Amazonia has been known to do this. It should stop in a week or two though. That's about all for now, I'm still waiting to post all the pics, this is getting very annoying.

I made a few changes I forgot to tell you guys about...new setup is as follows:
Lighting: I'm running a CAD standard output fixture with four 10,000K 6w bulbs (9.6 wpg)
Substrate: The top layer is ADA Aqua soil Amazonia Powder while the bottom layer is the normal sized Amazonia.
Heating: None

Here are your pictures finally! I'll post comments for each photo below it.

I decided to switch to some new fresh substrate. The old AquaSoil was about a year old so I bought a new pack. It's ADA Amazonia Powder AquaSoil. The picture shows the wood with christmas moss tied on.

Week 1
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will be removing the glosso as of tomorrow. The lighting is not strong enough so growth has been poor and there have not been many runners. Instead of staying short and sending out many runners, the stems are getting to be about 4 inches tall.

I will be placing Catappa Leaves on the substrate. They should be very beneficial for the Golden Crystal Shrimp. The shrimps are supposed to arrive on monday.

Lastly, I will post your week 2 update tomorrow with the glosso removed and leaves added.

wow

this is even better than the moss tank!!!!!
gotta go out and buy that cooler + new bulb now!!

Hi, the tank looks nice with Catappa leaves and the water has a nice hint of the black water brown. I like it a lot, but my new shrimps love it too. They arrived today and are doing great! They were shipped with some Suberwassertang so I decided to tie it to some wood and put it in. Here are some pictures:
