My NANO log.

Heres an update for ya.

Somthing in the water is causing all my fish to die.

I tested to see if it was the water, everything is fine.

Next guess was plants, the ones i was using for the background plant turned out to be bog plants. Took them out guessing it was releasing toxins.

Then added some more shrimp later after a 90% water change. Still dies the next day.

So i took ALL my plants out, cleaned the tank and washed the sand for about an hour. Let it cycle for about a week. Added a snail and ghost shrimp. Snail instantly died, shrimp took a day to die.

Now i dont know what the hell is going on. I have my moss and the parts ready for a moss wall, but i want to figure out whats the main problem first.

All the fish/inverts thats going in it is in a QT 1gal for now...

alright i know how the soda botle works, but what's the hagen thingy?

The Hagen co2 kit, is a $30-40 fancy soda bottle, a laddar, and some super expensive baking soda and yeast packets with fancy names.

so, basically, stick with the soda bottle?

Yes sir, i use the Hagen bottle at my work for our display 75gal. That thing sucks, it leaks liquid into the water like crazy.

That is very odd... Post all your stats, from the tank size, and water source and gravel, all the way to params. Post anything and everything, even if you don't think it will matter.

By the looks of the whole setup, are you sure the tank is cycled? You were using a new substrate and new filter so you couldn't have had a bacteria culture really going unless you borrowed some from another tank. When you say you let it cycle for about a week, what exactly do you mean? Did you have an ammonia source in there(fish, household ammonia?) One week is about the fastest I've cycled a tank before using the fishless method. A lot of people think that filling a tank up with water and letting it sit there for a few days will cycle it but it doesn't really work that way. As Wyldfya already stated, post all your stats with special attention to ammonia and nitrite as these are often the killers in newly setup tanks. Also, did you possibly overlook a water conditioner to get rid of chlorine and/or chloramine? I'm not trying to talk down to you, just getting everything out there so you don't have to deal with any more fish deaths.

There is a way to instantly cycle with plants:

Plant the crap out of the tank! I mean fill just about every space with fast-growing plants (most stem plants and carpet plants). You had about 1/3 the amount of plants that I'd want to start a tank w/o cycling it.
If you don't want a tank crammed w. plants and no room for fish, use shorter plants in the foreground. Keep it well lit on a 12hr cycle. If you think there's too much light, add a few floating plants.

Yes I've read that you need 5-10 stems per 5 gals and you can add all your stock at once, never tried it yet. Your sand could be leaching nitrites or nitrates into your water if it has silica in it which i think most fine sands do, from like your hardware store.
