I have had a 75 gallon tank for about a year now. I have a green sunfish, yellow bullhead catfish, a koi that will be moved to a pond when it grows, another uknown sunfish (I think it might be a green hybrid). I also have what I was told was a pumpkinseed sunfish when my brother gave it to me, but it seems to have stopped growing, while the green sunfish has passed it up, which leads me to believe it may be a dollar sunfish? I recently added another 75 gallon tank and connected them with 4" PVC, it's all unfinished for now, but thought I would post some pictures if I can figure it out.

Nice looking fish you have. Looks like 2 green sunfish and maybe a longear.Possibly a female nothern longear .

Looks goodm im looking into getting a bullhead for my pond, how is he with all the other fish? And what are you feeding him, Im looking at pellets and breeding feeders.

The only reason I said I thought he was a dollar sunfish is because he was the first sunfish I got. When I put the larger green sunfish in, the green sunfish was about half the size of the "dollar" sunfish, now it is about 1" larger and the first sunfish has not increased in size at all(he is probably about 4.5-5") Aren't the other species supposed to get larger than that? As for the bullhead, he gets along with the other fish great so far, I have had him since he was about 1/2". He eats anything I put in there for him. from flakes to pellets, to live feeders like small goldfish, to what I'm having for dinner(j/k, kinda).

Yes, they use the pipe a lot. It took me putting feeder fish in the new tank, the catfish was the first over. The larger green sunfish uses the pipe probably about every 10-15 minutes to check out the other tank(he thinks he owns both), he gets pretty frustrated when the catfish tries to sleep in the pipe during the day, he just sits at the entrance to the pipe and stares at the catfish until he moves. I have a pump pumping water from one tank to the other to keep the water in the pipe fresh.

Northern longears get to be about 5 inches long. What makes me think northern longear is the red on the ear flap. I don't believe dollar sunfish have any red on their ear.

That's brilliant! I would of never thought of using pipes to connect the tanks, btw great looking sunfish :)

Thanks for the comments everyone. And for helping me ID my northern Longear :-). This spring I'll probably add another fish to the tank, I have it down to either another sunfish, a crappie, or maybe a lake chubsucker. any suggestions? Ill be getting rid of the koi eventually and was thinking of the lake chubsucker to replace him. Then maybe another sunfish if I can find one I like, or a crappie?
