Hey everyone! New here and just wanting to show of my new tank! This is an upgrade from my 60 gallon. I just got it a few days ago so all the sand and everything is still settling, so it might look a bit murky. But hopefully with my addition of a new 5 stage filter it should help out with that.

Anyway what I have in my tank is:

1 Paco 8"
1 Blood Parrot 4"
8 or so feeder Gold fish that never got eaten, lucky guys
1 Catfish 12" (not sure what species)
1 Fish that at the store they didn't know and to this day I have no idea what species he is. You can see a good picture of him at the 54 second mark.
1 African Cichlid 3"
1 Arowana 3-4"
1 Eel (Not sure what species)
1 Giant Goldfish (His fins are chewed up from when I had a blue gill in the tank, he would eat the fins, he's healing up pretty good now)

By the way I'm still pretty new to the whole aquarium hobby, so if something doesn't look right I don't mind a little criticism, I'm just trying to do things the right way.

Let me know what you guys think!

You have way too many different specie mixed. First off arowana will get way to big for your tank, pacu will get way too big for your tank.African cichlids shoudn't be mixed with the fish you have in that tank.

What size tank would be recommended, for the Aro, and Pacu? When I went to purchase these, the guy at the store said as long as you have over a 100 gallon tank they should be fine together. Oh well, he was probly just trying to sell me the fish.

Also whats wrong with the African Cichlid? To aggressive for the tank? If so, he is very non-aggressive and mostly just swims around enjoying life.

Bmac91 is right.
And you to about the motives of the salesman.
125 gallon is nice but not nice enough for a pacu or that kind of catfish.

Add some wood or rocks for the fish to hide.
Success developping your nice sized tank.

well the aro will get to around 3 feet long so it will need a big tank, min of 240 gal. and the pacu will need bigger. also the shark will outgrow that tank as well, i can't tell from looking at it if its a paroon or a id but they both get huge as well

Right on every level. and my gut says it's an Irridescent.

PS: I think your 54 Second Fish may very well be an Extremely Stressed out Rainbow Shark. Just a guess. Get some better Still shots of him for us and he'll get a confirmed ID in no time.

ya i was thinkin ID, they are def much more common and most lfs will sell them to anyone without warning of their eventual size

@ Mavrick813

I don't think it's a Rainbow Shark, I wish I could get a better picture but I only have my phone.

The picture of the Irridescent Shark, is that I think/believe what is a catfish?

Seems to me like I just made all of the noob mistakes a tank owner can do.

I really like the way my tank is now, but I guess I can't have my cake and eat it to; so I suppose I'll have to get rid of the Aro, and Pacu.

Kinda sucks, I really liked the way everything was setup, but thanks everyone for the advice!

I think the fish that you got no idea looks like a tinfoil barb. Or this other fish i saw at the market but i forgot the name. Next time i go to the lfs i will get the name and tell you. Nice tank though. Everybody is right. I suggest around atleast a 350? gallon tank for all the fish together. Don't trust the salesman, trust this site and its people. They know from experience. 350 is still pretty small but i say around 400 would be good if you want to keep all the fish for life.

u can keep ur tank how it is now, the only fish i would get rid of right away would be the african bc of how aggressive they can be, def don't want him to start nipping at the fins of the aro. otherwise keep it how it is if u like it, as long as the fish are healthy and well taken care of, and when they get to big upgrade to a bigger tank lol or sell the fish or trade them in, just my 2 cents anyway
