Wow what a great looking setup!!! Do you plan on putting in any more fish or are you just gonna let those 3 rule the tank??? Either way its just stunning, good work!!
For lighting I'm using (2) 48 inch Quad T5 fixtures by Odyssey. I've been playing around with bulb types but 6500K are mostly used. I only use (2) bulbs in each fixture for 8 hours a day with a one hour burst at full light about 6 hours in. I found this was about the time the CO2 was highest and the tank could handle the 432 Watts without risk of algae.
Currently I have very little algae with this method. Key is keeping CO2 and nutrients high by dosing Potassium Nitrate, Potassium phosphate, Micro nutrients and Iron 3x a week with a 50% Water change weekly. Biggest thing is CO2, with this much light having low CO2 is an algae disaster. I'm having some issues with algae on one side of the tank. I moved my drop checker (tests PH and thus CO2 levels) to that side of the tank and there is drastically less CO2. Today I plan on changing the water current to hopefully get equal dispersion of CO2 throughout the tank.
Currently there are 45 species of plants in the tank (various crypts and many stemed plants). Hardest plants to keep are the small carpet plants, the fish uproot them easily when they swim around. I plan on growing in the tank and then moving to 15-20 species once I have a plan for the scape.
I really want to get an Azul but my piggy bank has been hit hard with the purchase of this tank. Maybe once I sell my 135 I can splurge on another Pbass.
