My new 400 gallons tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Squeeze some mature sponges in your new tank, this will transfer some nitrifying bacteria and speed up the process.
Blimey you are going to need a lake to house those Arapaima eventually.

Arapaima grow huge, what is your plan?

Get some good test kits as you need to keep a eye on your water quality, a 400 gal tank with a ray is a large challenge, there is a lot to learn if you are asking questions about cloudy water on a cycling tank.....please, please, please keep us updated, be honest and take advice as you will need to learn a lot of what not to do quite quickly..... Good luck and we are here to help.

Risky moneyvice, not to mention the life of beautifull rays! Good luck with them :) Keep an eye on the waterparams, its risky buisness what you are doing here. You are probably in for alot of waterchanges the next month to come. They look very nice, im jealous for sure! What is it with us boys and black\white combo? Our girlfriends seems to hate it!

As toby said, keep us posted, and do not let anything stay behind the curtens(?) (NOT AGAIN TOBY:) )

Total there are 4 arapaima. Currently I have 1 pond measurement 12' x 10' x 4'h planning to convert to 6' x 30' x 6'. When I bought this house the pond is already there is for Japanese koi but I do not think the filtration system is correct. After reading a lot at this forum filtration system is the most important thing to understand before starting a pond or tank. Planning to get in some ore BD and Leopoldi next year. Haha only 1 month to go.
