My new 440 gallon ray tank is almost done!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you go with a white LED, here is a trick I used:

In order to get a "fuller" coverage of light in my tank (now this was for a blue LED for nightime viewing) I actually inverted the light so that it shone up and into the hood of my tank. This diffused the light enough to actually light the entire tank without losing the "cool-moonlight-evening" look. Also made for a great shimmer.

If you just point a LED down, you tend to get an intense cone of (enter color) light straight down and have dark spots on the periphery.

Ooh blah, blah what-ever blah, blah... sorry, got a little long winded. -FM.

That is a sweet set-up Hotfishgirl, kudos from down here in the south! Of course, I am originally from upstate ny, where the hobby is much stronger up there than it is here, but me and my 3 tanks are kickin it here so.......well done!

Keep it related to the subject at hand. Derailment will result in infractions from here out, no warnings.

fx5's should have a built in drain so you can empty it before moving it.

They do have a purge on the bottom or you can use the supplied extra aqua stop valve. unhook the inlet and outlet and then. hook the extra aqua stop up to the outlet and then run what water is left in the canister into a bucket or if your hose is long enough out a window. This will take most of the water out and thus make it much lighter and easyer to move around when doing mantance

Whats the LxWxH on this tank I read the whole thread and either i missed it somewhere or your not telling us. the pics with you in the tank give us a rought size comparison and look alot like a 4x4x2.5' thats going to put you at 300 gals and you did say you did the math and it was 455 and the only way I got that with the conversion scale is 60x60x29. plz fill us in on the LxWxH and let me know i'm wrong and it is over 400 gal

Totally agree. I did the same thing and it's much more full and natural.

The tank is 4.5x4.5x3,actually with this conversion chart that comes out to 455 .I am 6 feet tall,in case you were thinking i was a small girl in her tank.
