my new 5.5gal breeding tank for black cons! :)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That sux. Look into the new tall or show tanks. The new 10 gallons are, I believe, the same foot print of a 5.5 but way taller.

PS. your female con has amazing colors.

Cons do get fairly big. Here is one I had that eh1421 now has

5.5 wouldnt be enough for this fish alone

I have 2 females and 1 male who just spawned in my 10 gallon planted, no pots :)
i put them in, 1 week later about 60+ eggs i hope atleast 10 make it the first time :)
good luck i've had my cons for about a month now and they havent gotten any bigger. they are at 1" and started off in a 20gallon and dident spawn so i moved them.

Many fish do not have an accelerated growth rate. Convicts are one of them. You should not expect to see them change overnight. It takes a long time, expecially in smaller tanks. In my 135 my con went from 2-4" in 3 months. In a 20 or less I would not expect to see much change over a 3 month period. Also depends on the foods you are offering them.

growth is also affected by water quality, which will be hard to maintain in such a small tank.

I just got back from my lfs and saw a tank with a whole bunch of black convicts. They were about 6" long. They are so beautiful. I am going to get a couple for my new 29 gallon tank.

my water is perfect like all of my tanks, they get fed omega 1 flakes, gold chichlid pellets i forget what the name is and black worms every now and then along with Brine shrimp.

And its safe to say none of the eggs made it.
