My new 55g tank - Still Cycling

Hello All,
I'm new to the hobby and wanted to share my new tank. I got this tank for my kids because they LOVE fish. I haven't decided what kind of fish to put in the tank yet, but I'm thinking about a cichlids and I want rare colorful ones, not the ordinary one from the local pet store.
I wish I would have joined Tropical Fish Keeping before I got the tank because as you can kinda see in the picture, the fish store gave me 4 goldfish to cycle the tank
I will continue to add photos as I continue my adventure.

1. Any suggestions on what kind of cichlids i should get?
2. And how many my tank can hold?
3. How many plecos can I get?

Sorry all the newbie questions.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

u can put butterfly peacock bass but i dont really know what the max size is though

As soon as my tank is done cycling, I want to add a school of cichlids, pleco and if possible a larger type fish. What do you think?

if you do the pleco, do it because you like how they look, and make sure you get one that fits in a 55, since the commons will outgrow a 55
they are also poop machines and shouldn't really be kept to eat algae
cichlids, you actually have a lot of options
just decide if you want africans or south americans or central americans

put some ramirezi or another dwarf cichlid,also more roots for the setup..
