Hello, all my new 9'' fire eel will not eat. I have had him for a week now. I've tried raw hotdogs, scallops, flakes, and pellets, and feeders. What should I do?

all the foods u have mentioned above, a 9'' fire eel will not take those foods.
i had a similar problem at first. try some live river shrimp or worms, give it some time, eels sometimes take time to acclimatize, but also give it a nice hiding place it will feel less stressed, also try some live blood worms

Ok I'll try live blood worms. Can I get him to eat market shrimp?

cut the shrimp into elongated pieces then give it a wriggle like imitating a worm, the eel will take. eels build trust with their owners, it will soon start associating you with food once it eats, then you can regularly hand feed it

Mine will only eat bloodworms, red wigglers and ghost shrimp. Try putting afew live ghost shrimp in and let him hunt.

Ok I will do that. I did that with my 2'' fire eel and he loved it.

Try earthworms/nightcrawlers. Most can't resist. careful though they can get to the point of only wanting to eat the worms.
