Hi all, i have at last got some pics of my TSNxRT, i did have a thread about what type it was but i hav edone this new one to show all of my new baby, i have had him a week and seems to have grown already, he is just under 3 inch now and feeding like a good un, as you can see in the pics he pigged out on prawns last night i think.

Now i added a BUT to the title, the BUT is to see find out what he will grow to if kept helthy in a 1200g tank around 10 x 6 x 3.

I have read all sorts of things about these cats and what they grow to but now i would like to ask the folk who have actualy kept these hybrid cats for a life time or near abouts to see for sure what they can grow to.

I am asking as i dont want to be getting rid of him when he is fully grown/out grown the tank above, i would rather do it now before i get even more attached to him.

I know maybe i should of asked before i got him but as he is so small i can sell him on now before he gets to big.

Thanks all wayne:headbang2

1200gallons should be ok for him. your talking about 3ft deep right? hell prolly top out at about 3ft in there maybe a little bigger

I think that would be ok for him.

Im happy you realise its too small.

Im currently working on persuading my dad to let me build an 18 x 8 x 3 pond for a few 'big' catfish. (rtc, tsn, rtcxtsn)

Yep 3 foot deep as in height, all i want is the best for my fish, i was after a TSN but then seen this hybrid and just got it without to much research, i know i should of, but as said i am will to sell on and get a TSN as thye dont get as big, i dont want to stunt the growth to much....can it hram them?

So it is ok for him but then to small a tank.......??????

Also there will be 2 motoros and a aro plus maybe 2 gars, who knows what else can come aslong as thye are happy.

Hah. No, the tank you have him in NOW is too small and im happy you realise that.
But the 1200g tank should be fine!

stunting theyre growth can be very harmful and most deff cause death in some cases. the rays may be fin but your gars will probablly get eaten, rule of thumb is not to keep any cigar shaped fish with large cats such as the hybrids. you could deff keep an tsn with him

tsn/rtc hybrids have a condition known as hybrid vigor, which means they will grow larger than both pure tsn and rtc
a 10 x 6 x 3 will probably be fine but just barely, it might not be a good idea to have tank mates with him in there

Seams to be larger tank then most people keep them in so i doubt he will out grow it if he dose grow over 6 foot he will be a monster :naughty:
