My new and first Cichla

Thanks guys. I can't wait until I can accomidate for many monster Cichla:headbang2


I have read to grow these guys out on feeders until they are like 6-7 inches and then try and ween them off live foods.

Do you think I will have success not feeding this 4 incher any feeders and getting him on frozen silversides/shrimp, or should I cave in and give him feeders until he gets bigger?
 
i would keep feeding it live, but it's up to you. If you decide to give it live, keep giving it dead foods.

Why would you keep feeding it live? Is it because I should bulk it up more before I try and convert it?
 
nice, he's a looker. but me thinks its a mono, mine looked just like that and he ended up being a mono :)

You have any pics of when he was small? I do see similarities.

I hope mine turns out like that. Mine was bought by Pwmin as an Occel. I am a major Cichla newb, so what ever species you guys tell me it is, I will go with..lol.
