Congrats. Mine is one of my favorites. They never seem to be a problem. Mine eats small sinking pellets and small cut up shrimp.

Thanks! congrats to you too ;)

That's pretty much what mine eats, Hikari sinking carnivore pellets, cut up shrimp and every once in a while he'll take a bite out of one of the green beans I throw in for the plec :grinno:

Lovely fish. I saw 4 at a public aquarium and each was 3-4ft long, very old.

Thanks Eric,

I'll bet that was cool, mine really started growing fast once he got over 10" and can take larger foods...will see how long it takes to get 3ft :D

Can you keep 2 together or will they fight?

I just have one but he came in with frayed fins...apparently from his brothers and sisters...seems like I heard as they get older they will tolerate each other better (?)

I really want one!!!!
Anyone from australia know if there legal in australia and know the price of them?
they shud be fairly cheap considering they come from australia shudnt they...
$100, $200?

500 australian dollars plus shipping was my last info. and yes they´re legal if you get them from the breeder (there´s only one breeder in oz currently with stock).
p.s. Norbert, how big is yours now? pic would be good.

YEs they are legal in AUS and anywhere is the world as long as they are registered and microchipped for permanent tracking. THis fish is covered by CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) legislation which controls the trade of particulalry vulnerable species like our Aussie lungy. It only occurs naturally in three rivers in one small part of Australia (plus a couple of translocated populations in small river near those).
Anyone purchasing one is bying a pet for life as these fish are thought to live for a very long time, probably 100 years of more.
I'm fortunate enough to work with lungies in my job so get to research some really cool facts about them.
ONce I figure out how to post pictures I'll try to get a photo of a 1.1m long 18kg lungy. Now that big boy is old and they get even bigger.
