I guess they bark when you take them out of water. Not really barking but they omit sounds kind of like the talking raphael catfish. Used to catch them all the time at my grandparents house on Lake Brophy up in Alexandria. They are pretty slimey fish.

yes bowfin also called mudfish and dog fish as for aggression very mean eaters however they eat from my hand, *i wont hand feed a channa*

keep feeding those grinnals (the lower AL name for them) with your fingers and sooner or later people will call you "stumpy"
