He looks nice but its all up to you if you like. Hopefully was he matures he colors up with the more red which he should. I got mine which is about 3.5" you can see him in the same area u posted or look at my avatar pic. I paid $65.00 for him. But like I said if you happy and like the little guy that's all that matters. Flowerhorns are great fish anyways they get to know the owner fast. I only had mine for about 2 weeks and every time he sees me he flips around and dances lol. What size tank you have him in?

Thanks i paid £8.99 for him from the lfs, you dont often see Flowerhorns around here, he was the biggest and most interactive in his tank, most of the others where females, yeh hes showing no red yet, my wife says she can see hints of red in him, im colour blind tho, it has to be strong colour for me to pick it up lol.

Yours looks stunning mate!

He was an impulse buy, because they are rare around here i couldnt help myself, my tank is a 4ft 75g, it currently has some big severums in there and a couple of bristlenose, i may sell the severums later on or persuade the wife to let me get another tank in my spare room, i shouldn't of bought him really, but i couldn't help myself.

He has so much character already, he swims upside down and sideways looking at his reflection at the waters surface lol, he flares at me to, hes not bothering any of the bigger Severums yet, although i know he will with time.

If you look at the bottom pic, he has a heart shape flower on his head on one side, the wife loves that :P

I'm already thinking tactical, i have got my kids to name him (Rex) cos then they will get attached and they wont be so upset when i have to get rid of the Severums :P

Yeas that a bad price its about $14.00 US and that's what they are selling for at one of my LFS we don't normally have any one that carries decent Flowerhorns but a new shop opened and yes trying to get his name out and just right time for me to find my FH.

This was the only time i have seen one in any lfs because all my lfs's are usually anti hybrid, I did have one years ago from a friend but he died of stomach problems before he could get big, i loved that fish, that's the main reason I couldn't say no when I saw this one for sale, my old one had the best personality i have ever had in a fish :P

£8.99 is still pretty cheap tho, most cichlids go for around £10 each around here unless they are common ones like Convicts and Firemouths etc.

Do they usually have red by this size?

I have a $14.00 FH and it has no color at all. But its maybe 2 inches. I would think the better breed lines will tend to have color at a younger age just like the kok the bigger at a younger age the better they are. That's just my understanding I could be way of base tho. Its all opinion in the end of what you like.
