My new baby red tail

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My 3 inch RTC is now 7 inches. I have had him only a month. You will not be able to keep it in a 55 gallon for a year. Better get that 300 now! And like others have said, you'll need more later!

right now he is in a 55, and then i one year i will be getting a 300. and thats where he will live. i just dont want him to get too big before that. hence the question about slow growth

in 1 year he will be 24-28inchs i think just for 1 year you would need a 7ft x 2.5ft x 2ft tank IMO
and i got my RTC at 2.5inchs 6weeks ago and he is 6.5-7inchs have not measured him in a while

Just like a few people said in your previous thread, no chance it's going to last a year in a 55g comfortably and will outgrow a 300g just as fast as it outgrows the 55g. I wish I could do one of these guys, but alas, my plans for my biggest tank (that will be construction shortly) is only 300g and, as already stated, even that's way too small for a RTC.

Why do people keep picking these guys up thinking they can let them grow out in 55g or 100g tanks for so long and then upgrade them to another tank like a 300g that will still be too small? I've seen this same situation beaten up quite a bit in the last few months on here...

i started my RTC in a 10g and he is 6inchs and going into my 55g hopefuly today and then into a 280g and then to a 1,500g pond thats minamal for a RTC IMO

They are so cute when they are little! Wish I had the room for one!
