Hi everyone! I went into chinatown over the weekend and rescued this barramundi from the dinner plate. Its always an adventure breaking the language barrier in order to prevent the fish from getting cut up. The guy working at the fish market eventually got the idea and was even nice enough to provide a bag with some water. All the fish were in pretty bad shape, but I'm confident this guy will make a full recovery. I really wanted a bowfin but they were about two feet long and I didn't want to have to deal with a fish that size on the 3 hour drive home. The Barra is about 14" at the moment and is living alone in my 120 gallon tank...yes, its only temporary. I am well aware that they can grow upwards of five feet.

nice rescue, r u medicating the tank just in case of parasite n watnot... ?

Yessir. He did come with a small case of fin fungus...that's pretty much gone now. Other than a few missing scales he seems to be in good health.

BTW may I ask what did you pay for him? I've been trying to get one here but no one has them but TNT supermarket and they won't sell the fish alive.

The grand total was $11. That's too bad that they wont sell you a live fish. Most places I've been to just want the money...they don't care if the fish is dead or alive.
