My new Barramundi!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I tried getting one and it died w/in 10mins in cooler. Water was taken out of a trout holding tank while the barramundi was in the tank above. I was told that it was probably in saltwater. Do they have them in both fresh and saltwater in Chinatown?

Apparently they were in both fresh and saltwater. There were about four overcrowded tanks filled with Barramundi. Some had Barras with saltwater snappers, so I know they must have kept some in saltwater. I took a bit of a gamble but things turned out fine. It didn't help that my friends were saying "the fish is going to die" the entire ride home.

Nice pickup. Back in 2004, my friends and I took a road trip to Chinatown NYC from Ohio. We were looking for snakeheads, but had no luck. So, we bought the next best thing "Bowfins." I bought 9 20" plus for $9.00 apiece. They were beautiful specimens. Hell, they even let me pick out the ones I wanted. Put them in some buckets and headed back to the car. Transferred them into a nice size tub. We bought 14 in all, and they all survived the trip home, which was over a 7 hrs. trip. I put them in my 300 gallon stock tanks. Fed them crayfish and feeders. Great fish. I ended up selling them, because I was moving to Florida. I love checking out Chinatown here in LA, hoping to come across some oddballs.
